This is a sign I designed and constructed for my brother's company http://www.signalysis.com .

The closeup shows the red dot of the laser as it scans the waveform trace .Pictured below is the rotating mirror assembly .The six sided mirror piece is from an old barcode scanner and the motor is an $8 dollar occilating fan ,they are cheap and I have 2 of them that have been running continuosly for years.I made a shaft adapter that conects to the big gear that normaly drives panning movement of the fan rotating the mirrors .Even at the slow speed it is still alittle too fast for my liking (I put alot of effort into making the WaveTraceGuide look like a wave and not a string of blinking lights ) so I got a bunch of sand resistors totaling about 500 ohms and put them in series with the motor and that seems to do the trick .I use the trimmed down fan to cool them and the power supplies for the blue LEDs .I use a thermal fuse to shut every thing down if the fan should stop .The MirrorModual contains the mirror assembly and has the LedArray mounted on the front to make all of the mechanical and electrical parts easily accessable in one unit .There is another smaller power supply for the LetterLights and the LaserModual that all remove for mantainance .

The pedistal base can be packed down for easier shipping .
